Dining in Banff

Experience dining at its finest in the majestic setting of the Canadian Rockies.

Banff and Lake Louise have attracted restauranteurs from around the world so our visitors are in for an epicurean delight. What's more is that many of the restaurants have been delighting taste buds for more than 30 years and to survive that long means one has to be quite good. This area is well-known for its exquisite mix of dining options where virtually every type of cuisine is offered.


Banff has a number of restaurants that feature both contemporary and extraordinary Canadian dishes.

Evergreen Restaurant Lounge Banff

Earls Kitchen & Bar The varied menu, with over 50 selections, has something for everyone. Entrees include Alberta AAA grain fed beef, fresh B.C. salmon, braised hickory baby back ribs, pizzas, fresh salads with Asian and Southwestern influences.

Embracing the best of Canadian Cuisine, Evergreen Restaurant, at the Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge, transforms regional ingredients into fabulous entrees that highlight the freshness and flavour of Alberta. The globally infused dishes use mainly organic produce and meats which are sourced as locally as possible and often in partnership with area farms.

Sleeping Buffalo 2017 Dining BanffSleeping Buffalo Restaurant at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge features Rocky Mountain Cuisine, which consists of high-quality, locally procured ingredients. Rocky Mountain Cuisine is best described as an artful assemblage of Canadian ingredients such as bison and elk raised on CRM Ranch, sustainable seafood, prairie-grown grains and locally sourced vegetables.

Located on the sunny side of the valley, across the highway from town and on the slopes of lower Mount Norquay, The Juniper Bistro has some of the best views in Banff. You will enjoy the excellent cuisine where everything is made in-house and they use the freshest of ingredients that are locally sourced wherever possible. 


Located in downtown Banff, Tooloulou's is locally owned and operated - a homey, intimate space where you can relax and sample favourites from the Bayou like Jambalaya, Gumbo & Etouffee, Blackened Chicken & Fish or order up your own Crab & Shrimp Boil! For lunch try a Po'Boy sandwich, Andouille Sausage Mac N’ Cheese, Fish Taco, Big Daddy's Ribs or a Bayou Burger. Our extensive breakfast menu is served to 2pm every day. Kid's menus for the 10 and under crowd available. “A little Louisiana ... A little Acadiana ... A little Canadiana.”


Old Spaghetti Factory 1Filled with fascinating memorabilia, The Old Spaghetti Factory offers a varied and inexpensive menu. Lots of pasta dishes, veal, chicken and steak. Dinners from $9.95 and include salad, hot bread, coffee or tea and ice cream. Located on the 2nd Floor of Cascade Plaza.

Tim Hortons is located in the Brewster bus terminal. Their world-famous coffee is always brewed fresh and is never more than twenty minutes old. Menu items include breakfast sandwiches, bagels, oatmeal, donuts, chili, soups and sandwiches. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 24 hours a day.


Serving Banff since 1988 and located at 109 Spray Avenue, en route to the Banff Springs Hotel and Banff Gondola, Silver Dragon Restaurant serves superb Chinese Cuisine. The extensive menu features a wide choice of Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine. 


Masala 2017 BanffMasala Indian Cuisine is Banff’s only authentic East Indian Restaurant and is a favourite of locals and visitors alike. The menu features a wide selection of authentic vegetarian, meat and seafood dishes including, Vegetarian Samosas, Pakoras, Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo,  Beef Roganjosh and many other tempting entrees. 

​​​​​​Indian Curry House serves real South Indian specialties (with the best dishes of North India also represented). Chefs from India’s upscale Taj hotels prepare exotic cuisine such as Idli, Dosa, Chettinad and Madras curries. The kitchen has a tandoori oven and the menu includes many gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and halal options.

Chilis Grill Fajita Bowl BanffGRILL & BAR IN BANFF

Pepper in some fun at Chili’s Grill and Bar located at the Fox Suites Hotel at 451 Banff Avenue. Bold, Smokey flavours dominate and entice in a menu ripe with Big Mouth burgers, fire-grilled steaks, entrée sized salads and a newly added southwestern pasta selection.


Pacini Italian Restaurant Banff's newest restaurant at Banff's newest resort, the Moose Hotel & Suites, is authentically Italian and features a warm and friendly ambience. Our Signature Bread Bar offers a selection of fresh breads seasoned and grilled to your liking. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Pacini Italian Restaurant 2017 BanffThe Primrose Restaurant,  at the Rimrock Resort, offers spectacular views of the Bow Valley while experiencing Italian influenced modern cuisine. The service is exceptional, the food is delectable and the view is unparalleled in Banff.

The restaurant features authentic Italian cuisine with an Alberta twist, prepared by their top European trained Chefs. They offer many specialty dishes, a fine wine selection and decadent desserts.

Seoul Country


Seoul Country Korean Restaurant brings a whole lot of Seoul to the heart of Banff. This family-run restaurant brings you over twenty years of authentic Korean cuisine experience. Delight in Bulgogee (flavourful marinated Alberta Beef), pork, chicken and seafood entrees grilled on your very own tabletop BBQ.

Cliffhouse Bistro BanffCliffhouse Bistro now operates as a full-service eatery. Savour the unique and inspired flavours, and share in chef Morne’s belief in “good simple food”. Accessible by riding Mt. Norquay’s Sightseeing Chairlift, a peaceful, seven-minute ride through Lodgepole pine forest over grizzly and black bear habitat. Enjoy incredible views of the iconic Mt. Rundle and Bow Valley while dining at 7,000ft. overlooking Banff.

Sky Bistro is located in the new Banff Gondola summit building. Soar to the top of Sulphur Mountain in a gondola cabin to experience a stunning view of six incredible mountain ranges. Located 7,486 feet (2,281 meters) above sea level, Sky Bistro pairs the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains with a distinctly Canadian menu that features a handpicked selection of local meats, produce and ingredients.


El Toro offers homemade quality food at affordable prices. Entree's include braised lamb shoulder, their best seller, sizzling fajitas, or try the chateaubriand for two, a 16-oz beef tenderloin served with vegetables and roasted potatoes carved at your table. A full tapas menu is also available. Located in Irwin's Mountain Inn on Banff Avenue.


Keg Steakhouse 2015If you’re looking for a taste of AAA Alberta steaks specially aged for extra tenderness, there are several excellent choices around town. The Keg Steakhouse & Bar is a favourite Canadian institution, having been around for over forty years with 2 locations in Banff. When it comes to steak, The Keg serves only the finest cuts, aged for tenderness and seasoned with a unique blend.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Saltlik Restaurant, you are in for a treat as the emphasis of this fine restaurant is on steaks and you can be assured that only the finest and freshest Angus beef and prime Alberta beef are served. The restaurant is located on Bear Street and has also introduced an excellent selection of other dishes, including a full Rack of Ribs, baby Salmon Fillet, Wild Boar Chop, Rotisserie Chicken or for the more adventurous, Drunken Chicken.

Chucks Steakhouse Banff

Chuck’s Steakhouse features a wide range of locally sourced Alberta beef with an on-site dry aging room, all served in a stylish ranch inspired saloon and dining room. Located on the corner of Banff Avenue and Buffalo Street, the second floor dining room features wrap around windows with views of the surrounding mountains and the historic Bow River.

1888 Chop House is set within the impressive Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and is the next chapter in the tradition of extraordinary dining at the Castle. Executive Chef JW Foster presents a modern twist on the authentic chop house with a menu focused on prime cuts of Alberta beef, wild game and Ocean Wise seafood.

Housed in a rustic log building built in 1928, Melissa's Restaurant offers family dining at reasonable prices and is proud to serve all AAA Alberta beef. Melissa’s serves the best breakfasts in Banff through to 4pm and their upstairs bar features happy hour daily.


Ticinos Stuffed Chicken Ticino Restaurant serves up veal wiener schnitzel, hazelnut breaded chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese, fresh salmon, steak and lobster, rack of lamb, fresh pasta dishes. Swiss Raclette cheese, beef and cheese fondues and for dessert a Swiss chocolate fondue. Warm alpine ambience and hospitality.


A small, quaint restaurant located in the Clock Tower Mall, Pad Thai Restaurant has been serving locals and visitors since 2004 and is a locals favourite for fast, delicious Thai cuisine. Prepared using traditional Thai methods and using fresh and authentic ingredients, Pad Thai serves up delicious dishes. Lots of vegetarian and gluten free dishes available upon request.


At Banff Trail Riders, fall back in time on a ride along the banks of the Bow River to a Mountain morning breakfast or evening steakfry. While your cook prepares your steak to order, you will enjoy our majestic scenery, while trying your hand at roping or playing a game of horseshoes. RIdes are available by either horseback or in an old-fashioned covered wagon.
