Built originally on the success of the forest and fishing industries, Port Alberni offers a deep sea port, beautiful waterfront quays, an airport, a new hospital, shopping mall, casino, and a well-developed recreational facilities and municipal infrastructure. The port, one of North America’s best deep-sea jumping-off points, still harbours an active commercial fishing fleet. This “Gateway to the Pacific Rim” offers some of B.C.'s best recreational fishing – for both salt and fresh water.
