Depoe Bay
Whale watching is a favorite activity for visitors to Depoe Bay, but it's definitely not this tiny harbor town's only draw.
The resident pod of grey whales that makes its home just offshore between March and December can be seen from any of the five state parks or wayside stops in the area, or from local charter boats for a closer look. The West Coast's smallest harbor also hosts a fleet of fishing charters ready to take anglers out for the abundant salmon, halibut, ling cod and many other species of fish.
A sea wall runs the length of the downtown area which allows visitors to shop for antiques or dine at one of the award-winning seafood restaurants.
