Golf, skiing, camping, canoeing, kayaking, waterskiing, scuba diving and fishing are a few activities enjoyed in Vernon. Popular beaches include Kalamalka Beach, on the northern shore of the lake, and Kin Beach, on the eastern shore of the Vernon Arm of Okanagan Lake. There are a half dozen terrific golf courses within a 30-minute drive, and a network of hiking and cycling trails that criss-cross the region, right from the historic Grey Canal within the city to those in nearby provincial parks. Vernon tastes terrific, too, and its many farmers’ markets and roadside vendors illustrate that deliciously well. Prime outdoor market season happens when veggies come into season, April through November.
