Glacier Experience At 389 square kilometres, the Columbia Icefield Glacier is the largest icefield south of Alaska. Local coaches take tours through the Athabasca Glacier; guided hikes will take participants to glacier headwalls, where the ice is over 1,000 feet thick. www.columbiaicefield.com.
Goat Lookout 38 kilometres south of Jasper in the Icefield Parkway region off Highway 93. Breathtaking views of the Athabasca River Valley and wildlife including mountain goats and bighorn sheep.

Ice Skating Lac Beauvert and Lake Mildred are groomed for skating each winter—including a hockey rink on Mildred. There is also skating at Pyramid Lake and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

Miette Hot Springs Natural Hot Springs flowing from the mountain at 54°C, the water is cooled to a comfortable temperature of 40°C. Over and above the hot pool, there is a warm pool and two cool pools. Open May - October.
Mountain Biking Check out the Athabasca River Trail if you’re in the novice to intermediate category—be prepared for some uphills in the first 12 kilometres.
Pocahontas Coal Mine A trail winds through the remains of this mine, along with some terrific viewpoints. Just off Highway 16 on Miette Road.
