Hiking Trails around town take you through canyons, up to glacial lakes, around historic buildings and even to the site of ancient pictographs. Local guides can even take you to remote areas where you’ll experience nature at its finest.
Mountain Biking Trails range from easy rides along the valley floor to challenging routes through the mountains. Routes at Goat Creek and Mount Sharp are well recommended, and in summer the Canmore Nordic Centre is a mountain biker’s dream.
Rock Climbing The Canmore area is famous for some of the best climbing in the Rockies. Mount Yamnuska is a popular spot and a good place for lessons, but climbers should also check out Grotto Canyon, Chinaman’s (Ha Ling) Peak and Cougar Creek.
Skiing The Canmore Nordic Centre has over 60 kilometres of world-class, cross-country trails. Four world-class ski resorts are within an hour from town, including Nakiska in Kananskis and the three resorts of Banff National Park.
