Yellowstone to Yukon: The Journey of Wildlife and Art : June 16 - Nov. 15, 2012

Banff, Canada

About this event

This exhibition examines artistic representations of the Yellowstone to Yukon region with paintings and sculptures from the permanent collections of the Whyte Museum and the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. An innovative field program sent acclaimed artist Dwayne Harty out to recapture and discover anew the majestic landscape and its bountiful wildlife population. For the last three summers, Harty has been painting in some of the most remote regions of the corridor, capturing landscapes that few, if any, painters have sketched firsthand. His compositions of wildlife in these wild places provide the overlay that connects all of the main ideas of the exhibit.
