About this event
J. B. Taylor and the Idea of Mountains is a milestone exhibition and tribute to the Rockies. Shaped by the American Sublime movement, Taylor moved from the representation of nature to an intuitive perception of the essential elements of landscape – rock, water and sky – as impacted by light. Using acrylics and other media, he made a break-through from representational art to abstraction. Rather than presenting mountains and glaciers in their majesty, he captured the “idea of mountains” in a unique style.
